One of the most promising structural materials for fuel cladding of fast reactor operating in a closed nuclear fuel cycle, are the vanadium alloys of the V-(4-10) Ti-(4-6) Cr. These alloys have a number of advantages compared to austenitic and ferritic-martensitic steels, especially high short-term and long-term strength at temperatures up to 700 °C and a significant resistance to radiation. Due to the ability of vanadium alloys intensively dissolve oxygen and nitrogen in the case of use as reactor fuel cladding material appropriate to protect their surface by corrosion-resistant materials, for example, by creating a multi-layered compositions. Analysis of possible materials for the protection of vanadium alloys showed that the most suitable materials are corrosion-resistant chromium ferritic steels such 0.08% С-17% Cr-0.5% Ti and 0.15% С-25% Cr-0.5% Ti. At present, technology for producing such three-layer pipe by joint plastic deformation methods are developed and methods of quality control are defined.
