The cross rolling technology end equipment

The scientific research at Pipe Production Technology and Equipment department is organized in research laboratories of: “Radial-displacement rolling” and “Hollow bodies’ production by rolling”, in scientific-production center: of metal forming. One of the research activity trends of the department and laboratory is the development and all-round manufacturing application of the conceptually new technology and radial-displacement rolling mills. The unique results were achieved as a result of this work which allowed amplifying theoretical and practical knowledge in metal forming field. The product slate of mini-rolling mills for hot-rolled and cold-rolled rods was designed within wide dimensional and grade assortment. The cross-rolling mills piercing process development being among one of the main problems solved by the department’s laboratories allowed to successfully accomplish the work in 2008 within the concept of mini-metallurgy development in technology introduction of the seamless pipes production at Vyksa Metallurgic Plant producing seamless pipes in wide size range by limited number of lots at a high dimensional accuracy. The method of billet piercing with the further sleeve rolling-off at the two-high cross-rolling mill with guide shoe was taken as a basis of technology process. Another important research trend is the part-rolling technology designing for cross-rolling mills producing the axisymmetric billets both blind and hollow to use in machinery. Under the auspices of department there is installed the equipment being the prototype of the contemporary compact micro-metallurgical plant aimed at the recyclable materials recovery and small-scale manufacturing equipped by the system of comprehensive control and production quality management which is able to fit the constantly changing market outlet and raw material market conditions quickly and at minimal expenses
