Research Projectsand Contracts

1. Development of laser photoacoustic method for obtaining nano-size_d geteromaterials

Under the leadership of A.A.Karabutov were created:

Laser-ultrasonic Information Technology laboratory at The Institute on Laser and Information Technologies of the Russian Academy of Sciences which collaborates in the Coordinating Council on Optics and Laser Physics at the Presidium of the RAS (ILIT RAS is a collective member of the Russia Chapter (SPIE/RUS) of the International Society for Optical Engineering). The Institute collaborates actively with the International Council of the Optical Society of America (OSA);

Laboratory of laser optoacoustics of International Laser Center of Federal State Budget Educational Institution of Higher Education M.V.Lomonosov Moscow State University, where he is currently a professor and head of.


Major Scientific Advances

Since 1980 has been developing theoretical foundations and experimental research 

in the field of nonlinear acoustics and development Fundamentals of Laser-ultrasonicspectroscopyFor this purpose were developed laser sources of powerful short pulses of elastic waves (Lenin Comsomol Prize in Science and Technology, Physics, 1984). Their use has led to the possibility of studying the self-focusing and nonlinear interaction of acoustic beams (Lomonosov Prize, 1991). Subsequently the principles of laser ultrasonic diagnostic structures and properties of various materials were developed.Recently, pays special attention to the measurement of the parameters of supercritical conditions of various metals and alloys using laser generation of ultrasound and broadband ultrasonic spectroscopy of composite materials. When these studies were prepared 8 candidates of physical and mathematical sciences, two of whom are currently working in the USA(PelivanovI.M. - Dept. of Boeing., Univ. of Washington, Seattle, WA, USA  and Khokhlova T.D. – Dept. of Gastroenterology, Univ. of Washington Medical CenterSeattle, Washington, WA,USA).
