Major Scientific Advances.

Landau-Brazovskii  or just Brazovskii phase transition on crystallization, nowadays widely used from тче solid state to cosmology and cold atoms;

Brazovskii-Kirova model on conducting polymers, electronic and optical mechanisms in conducting polymers;

electronic phases of semimetals and the excitonic insulator in high magnetic fields;

blue phase in liquid crystals;

solitons and superstructures in quasi-1D electronic systems; 

understanding solitons seen by STM, topologically combined excitations and spin-charge reconfinement, phase diagram of organic conductors; 

co-discovery of electronic ferroelectricity (in collaboration with experimentalists at Grenoble and Moscow) and later extensions to polymers;

space-resolved X-ray studies of sliding CDWs (in collaboration at ESRF in Grenoble), reconstruction and tunneling in nano-junctions of CDWs;

co-discovery of a dynamical phase transition under ultrafast optical pumping (in collaboration at Ljubljana);

suggestions for a surface_ superconductivity induced by a high electric field.
